My interest in working with clay began in 1971. One evening while on a trip that summer, I watched a man working in his pottery studio. I was so intrigued by what I saw, I decided to take a class at the local Junior College that fall. I was soon hooked on working with clay and continued taking classes at San Antonio Junior College and The San Antonio Art Institute for the next four years. In 1975, I had the opportunity to work in clay full time. I was offered a job teaching pottery at San Antonio College. I worked there for one year and then set up my own studio. For my entire career. I have made functional high temperature stoneware and porcelain fired in a gas kiln. It gives me a great deal of pleasure when I hear from people that have bought my work that they use it almost every day.
