Karen Walker

Karen is a studio artist who lives on a ranch 60 miles south of Ft Worth with her family. She has studied with great artists such as Billy Ray Mangham and James Tisdale. She is greatly influenced by the old 1800 century porcelain dolls she and her grandmother used to collect and re-create together. Each piece is constructed using coils and slabs from low fire earthenware clay. Once the form is complete it is finished with multiple layers of stains, glazes, under glazes, and some of a cold finish to achieve the desired look. The pieces are fired multiple times to cone 04.
