I am a Texas clay artist with a New Mexico soul. My artistic journey began with paint on canvas and a fascination with architecture. My inspiration comes from Southwest and Texas mission churches and their architectural origins. As a clay artist, I transitioned my love of color & texture from a 2-D canvas to 3-D forms and structures. Clay gives me another surface to be creative with, and form allows me to design and construct. Textures, patterns, symbols, and color play an important role in the development of my clay art. Custom-designed stencils and underglaze appliques, among other tools, are used for surface treatments and decorative elements. Not content with one direction, my work continually evolves, ranging from whimsical heart designs, “little” churches, vase forms, and custom commissions of churches & architectural icons.
