Ryan’s influences and interests in ceramics have varied widely over the past twenty years. His most recent work has been an exploration in the design of thoughtfully crafted functional ceramics. The work frequently incorporates contrasting colors and textures with an intentional reference to minimalism. His work often employs the use of clean direct line, combined with contradicting glaze surfaces of solid opaque color set beside a broken crackle glaze that resembles a desert landscape. Ryan Lucier is a studio potter living and working in Austin TX. His work can be found online, in numerous galleries around the united states and in private collections around the world. Ryan is also an adjunct professor at Texas Lutheran University where he teaches drawing and ceramics.
