As a Social Worker turned Ceramic Artist, this shift provided the ability to develop my aesthetic while I grew into my dream job of creating and teaching ceramics full time. Each form of clay demands nurturing and process which I find soothing. My company is named Brave Ceramics to honor the courage and willingness to fail while learning, which helps me practice bravery in other areas of life. As I started building my business through community art tours and pop-up markets in 2016, I learned there was a large interest for people wanting to work with ceramics. I’ve spent the last 6 years teaching beginner and intermediate pottery classes across Austin, Houston, and surrounding cities. In 2022, I had the opportunity to teach over 450 students. My goal is for students to leave class with a renewed connection to their artistic expression and confidence in their creative abilities, so they too can practice that bravery in their daily lives.
