The 32nd annual Texas Clay Festival will be held in the Gruene Historical District of New Braunfels on October 26 & 27, 2024.
Featuring the work of over 80 Texas potters and clay artists, the festival offers the opportunity to view and purchase a wide variety of pottery, from traditional to sculptural by the top clay artists in the state.

Creating Stacking bowl sets & Tips for finding your voice in clay.

Will be demonstrating her process of laminating very thin layers of patterned slips onto a slab or thrown surface to create anything from simple colored patterns to colored slip paintings.

Making Faces: Dueling Demos Jess and Jamie Lea Wade are back and so is their dueling demo. Both artists will take the stage and show you some of the ways they approach making faces out of clay.

Will demo turning a basic thrown cylinder into a beautiful, finished mug. Showing how she creates interesting depth using subtle texture, crackle slip, underglaze and glaze. She will also demonstrate the finishing touches that elevate a piece making it well-refined and pleasant to use including adding a comfortable hand-built handle and finishing the rim and foot. Pamela will be working on several in-progress pieces at the leather-hard and bisque stages so you will be able to see the various steps in her process.

Will be doing a demonstration on screen printing on clay!

Will be demonstrating a Nom style faceted tumbler while talking about their glazing and firing.

Will demo making your own slip using reclaim from your clay body. How to use mason stains to color your slips. Depending on time, she may show how to use an automatic slip trailer that will allow you to decorate with ease and precision, with a little practice.

Love colors? Watch and learn about making and using colored clay in to laminated blocks, inspired by the Japanese process of Nerikomi. Kassie will demo this technique on the potter’s wheel and discuss its hand building applications.
3:00pm
Will demonstrate a thrown and altered decanter. The demonstration will include throwing a bottle form without a bottom, attaching a slab base and creating a hollow handbuilt knob for a cork topper.

Going to demonstrate vessel making for ‘Ikebana’ style flower arrangement.
