Growing up in California in the ’60s with a love of music and surfing, Greg Reuter started his career as an artist in Hawaii where he went to graduate school and received an MFA in sculpture and ceramics from the University of Hawaii. After graduation, he worked for a time as a studio potter both in Washington state and California. In 1978 Greg moved to Texas and began teaching at Corpus Christi State University (now Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi). In 2018 Greg retired from 40 years of teaching. He continues working in his home studio in Corpus Christi. In addition to making sculpture, Greg has returned to his roots working with clay, with a focus on alternative firing processes. Shown nationally and internationally, his work is represented in numerous public and private art collections including the Art Museum of South Texas. Greg has lectured and exhibited in Germany, Mexico, Japan, and the United States. His sculpture was used in the Hollywood film D.O.A., in which Greg made several brief appearances.
