David Hendley

2021 will mark David’s 26 th year at the Texas Clay Festival, having exhibited and demonstrated at the festival since 1995, missing only last year’s COVID virtual- only event. Like many potters, David never intended to be a potter, but was instantly hooked on clay when he took has first ceramics class in 1972. He completed his master’s degree in ceramics in 1976 and has operated Old Farmhouse Pottery, in the piney woods of East Texas, close to Maydelle, since 1990. All of his pottery is made with local East Texas clay and is fired to 2400 degrees in a homemade kiln, fueled with scrap wood from a pallet factory.
