David Hendley

David Hendley has been making pottery since he took his first ceramics class in 1972, except for a 4-year sabbatical in the late ‘80s, when he moved to the piney woods of East Texas and built his own house. Since 1990, he has operated Old Farmhouse Pottery, located 100 feet from that house, in Maydelle, Texas. All of his work is fired in a wood-fired kiln, using scrap wood from a local pallet factory. David’s pottery is known for its colorful glazes and slips, which provide contrast to the natural flame-flashed clay surfaces.
