Hey there! I am Rebeccah Polk, the creator and maker behind Reb Ceramics. I am the new owner to a long standing studio, Feats of Clay Pottery. Established in 1976, we have always been a proud woman owned and operated community art space. I have been a figurative sculpture artist/potter and instructor in ATX since the early 2000’s. A reoccurring a major series called “The Big Game” and an off-shoot of this series called “Birds of Prey” have been in the works for many years. Both series directly correlates with the multi-difficult experiences growing up as a shy child to womanhood through the eyeglass of various expectations, shapes and sizes. The antlers, horns and beaks resemble the finest “rack” or “trophy”. My wheel thrown and functional work heavily embodies an aquatic theme. Growing up around the Gulf of Mexico then later The Great Lakes, I have adopted deep blues and greens into my glaze combinations. Just a way to feel at home. Reb Ceramics is a colorful combination of wheel thrown functional work and figurative sculptures inspired by nature and the feminine divine.
