David Hendley The Accidental Career Like several other potters at the Clay Festival, I didn’t intend to be a potter. At the urging of a friend, I signed up for an elective ceramics class my senior year in college. It was a fortuitous decision. The class began in September, and by the end of October I had decided to forget about my soon to be awarded psychology degree and pursue pottery. That was 1972, so I am now going on over 50 years with muddy hands and a happy heart! I have exhibited at every Texas Clay Festival since 1995.
