Dexter Woods

Dexter Woods is a first-generation ceramic artist based in Wylie, Texas. His work bridges the functional and the sculptural, combining wheel-thrown forms with hand-built techniques to create pieces that balance utility, craftsmanship, and artistic expression. Inspired by the landscapes of West Texas, his recent work incorporates the region’s terrain and the effects of wind erosion as a source of surface texture and visual language, allowing the natural environment to inform each piece. Dexter lives in Lubbock, Texas, with his wife and two children. In addition to his studio practice, he serves as the manager of the Helen DeVitt Jones Clay Studio at the LHUCA campus, where he supports and cultivates the local ceramics community.
